Basic tutorial
1. You need the car templates, that can be found on your GTR2 CD.
2. Install Photoshop or any image editing software that can read .PSD files
Also download nvidia dds tools developer.nvidia.com/object/nv_texture_tools.html
and last install geditor www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=1863
3. Find the car that you want to skin in your GTR2 directory.
Example:
J:\GTR2\GameData\Teams\NGT\Ferrari 360 Teams
you will see extra folders inside the folder listed above for example
Auto Palace
Cirtek Motorsport
Darro Motor Racing
Those are the team folders, now copy and paste one of those team folders and rename it to whatever you want.
For example name it "Test Skin" without the "".
Now open Test Skin folder and look at the files.
They should have a unique car number for example the Auto Palace F360 has a 03058, that is the cars unique number.
Now go inside your Test Car folder and change your car's files to a unique number.
The first 2 digits is the car year and the last three digits is the car number.
So if your car is a 2005 car with number 389 on it change the number 03058 to 05389.
Now go inside your car's .car file and also change 03058 to 05389.
4.Now that the files are setup open up the car painting template in Photoshop or whatever program you are using to paint the skin.
5. Paint the car how you want , use the wireframe layer wisely so you can see where your decals are going to show up.
6. Once you are done painting its tiem to save your skin.
Now open the "carname"_TEX.gtr file with geditor and look to see how the car files are named.
For example
03058_Ferrari_360_Body1.dds is the body texture file
now name your skin the same except change the unique number to the number that you gave your car. And from the example above that number would be 05389.
So you would name your skin 05389_Ferrari_360_Body1.dds
Save your file as a dxt5. dds
Dont forget to hide the wireframe layer before you save your file.
7.Now go and test it out in game.
